Soffit and fascia are the boards and panels that close off your roof edge. When they fail, water gets behind the gutters and into the roof deck, and squirrels and birds get into the attic. It is a small repair that prevents a large one.

What we do

• Soffit replacement — vented aluminum or vinyl panels, or restored wood soffit on historic homes

Why this matters more in Minnesota

Soffit vents are half of the attic ventilation system that prevents ice dams. Cold air enters at the soffit, runs up under the roof deck, and exits at the ridge. Blocked or rotted soffits kill that airflow, the roof deck warms up, snow melts, and it refreezes at the cold eave as an ice dam. Fixing soffit ventilation is often the cheapest real fix for a recurring ice dam problem.
