Ice dams are an attic problem, not a roof problem

Ice dams form when heat leaking into the attic melts snow at the ridge and it refreezes at the cold eave. Heat cable treats the symptom. The fix is air sealing every penetration in the attic floor, bringing insulation up to depth, and making sure soffit-to-ridge ventilation actually moves air.

Done properly it also cuts winter heating cost, which is the only ice dam fix that pays you back.

How to document a hail claim so it gets paid

Carriers deny for missing documentation far more often than for absent damage. What works: dated storm data for your address, wide and close photos of hits on all slopes plus soft metals, interior photos of any staining, and a line-item scope that matches the carrier's own estimating format.
